About us

MountainsPlus has been established by Stewart MacKenzie, a qualified International Mountain Leader (IML), to provide specialist navigation training services . Stewart also leads walks and treks in the UK, Europe and beyond. A keen fell runner, mountain marathon competitor and ski-mountaineer, he was until recently a member of a very busy Mountain Rescue Team in the central Lake District for over 10 years.

The IML or Accompagnateur in France, is one of  two internationally  recognised mountaineering qualifications, the other being the UIAGM Guide. The IML is the professional qualification for leading trekking and mountain walking groups worldwide. As a British IML, Stewart is a member of BAIML the UK members organisation for the international federation UIMLA
