Mountain Walking Masterclass
Have you ever set out on a walk with the best of intentions, only to emerge from the first ascent drenched in sweat, with aching limbs and a pounding heart.? Have you marveled at that apparently fit individual who passed you effortlessly on the way up? Have you ever resolved to get fitter before the next visit to the mountains?
It may surprise you to learn that your level of fitness may not be the limiting factor to more complete enjoyment of your day’s adventure. Many of us have simply never learned to walk proficiently in the mountains. Correct foot placement, pace and walking style are all vitally important. Effective descent technique is key when the “going” gets steep and loose.
The Mountain Walking Masterclass can help you to walk like a confident professional. Effortless grace and poise will become second nature, and you will learn many of the tricks of the trade which enable the experienced to walk for hours, day after day.
There are many other components to a safe and enjoyable day out in the mountains, and the Mountain Walking Masterclass will ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the importance of these aspects. The following items will all be addressed during the Masterclass: Route Planning, Weather Forecasts, Mountain Safety, Emergency Situations, Clothing and Equipment, Nutrition and Hydration, Use of Poles, Group Needs, “After the walk”.
The purpose of the Masterclass is to reveal to you some of those techniques, habits and ways of thinking used by the experienced, whose high level of performance you wish to emulate. It will not provide training in specific skills such as navigation, first aid, and mountain leadership. If you require training in any of these specific skills then MountainsPlus will be pleased to assist you.
